When you look at changing your roof space, different questions are bound to come up. One of the bigger ones we get asked is – do you need council approval for an attic conversion?

We thought we’d use this next blog to break it down a bit for you.

If this sounds like your situation, keep reading below. If you need further advice please talk to the AtticPlus team. You can call us on 1300 502 995 or enquire online here.

Do You Need Council Approval for an Attic Conversion?

Basically, if you wish to create a classified habitable space or make any roof alterations, it is likely that you will require council approval.

This process can be supported by AtticPlus via our Build Planning Consultant or our clients can apply for council approval themselves.

There are cases where you don’t need to worry about council approval. These include instances where you do not need to classify the space as habitual and you are happy to keep your attic conversion under the profile of the existing roof.

Attic Conversions

Architecturally designed and engineered, an attic conversion turns your attic space into endless possibilities.

You can have a bedroom (or two) and if there is even more available space, we can even build a bathroom or ensuite.

Attic Plus can take care of everything, from start to finish:

  • Planning and design ideas
  • Full architectural drawings
  • Council (Development Application) approval
  • The build itself

Our attic conversions come with a transferable 10-year guarantee. Everything is covered and you are in good hands.
